As Barry’s investigations into mysterious human-nature success factors kept producing valuable results that he could apply successfully in the organizations he led, his curiosity became a serious study and then a passion. Barry then made a brave decision to retire early from a successful executive career to pursue full-time his growing insights into a general lack of understanding of human-nature mysteries that were causing widespread problems in business. Dr. Borgerson then spent the last three decades self-funding investigations into oddities of human nature and building the first comprehensive theory to conquer highly consequential, enigmatic aspects of involuntary activities.

 

In 2011, he published the award-winning book The Auto-Self: The Key to Creating Star Performance and to Becoming a Star Yourself. That book focused on business success and particularly on reconstructing undesirable behavior habits.

 

Since the major source of fundamental inadequacies in business, especially leadership, turned out to be chronic lack of understanding and managing some mysterious human-nature quirks, Barry suspected major problems existed in other arenas, which turned out to be the case.

 

Continuing research revealed that some hidden human-nature properties created so much dysfunction that the entire West, and indeed humanity, is astoundingly trapped in an adolescent state of development. Paramount among these are our in-here mental certainties that operate independent of any correspondence with out-there realities, but we intrinsically experience these certainty-illusions as “true.” Barry progressively peeled away tenacious barriers blocking access to this enigmatic, success-determining mental mechanism.

 

Barry repeatedly tested and verified the effectiveness of his evolving comprehensive theory of human nature by coaching high-level leaders through difficult behavior changes, which consistently provided lasting results, and guiding businesses through culture changes.

• Long-term volunteer leader in an organization mentoring early-stage businesses

• Co-led special interest groups for performance-improvement and organization-development societies

• Served on the board of directors of for-profit businesses and nonprofit organizations

Barry has known for a long time that he had penetrated human-nature mysteries to an unprecedented level that would provide the foundation to launch the desperately needed mental-domain revolution. However, he has had to painfully bide his time while waiting for a decisive precipitating event before moving to launch the deeply needed transformations. The necessary event has now occurred in the political world in the US, so that provides the beachhead for finally crossing the chasm to transform to an overall adult-level of problem-solving in the West, and a major transformation of humanity. That is where Barry now turns his still-considerable energy.
